10:41, 14:30 Lampshading! Stops short of breaking the 4th wall, (you are in a mystery, though!), but I'm glad Sonoko went there, and Keibu-dono has had similar thoughts.

I wonder if Shuuichi remembers that time, since he seemed to have only found out Conan's identity after becoming Subaru (691, Kudou Yuusaku's Cold Case (Part 2) 9:55). Or Shuukichi for that matter. When he won the 7th title the day they rescued Yumi, Mary was watching the match on TV, which ended the moment Masumi came home. Mary was clearly happy about something when she turned off the TV, but apparently didn't tell her why. Then there was the 'near miss' in Ramen So Good, It's To Die For 2, so weighing all the hints and teases, I guess Shinichi and Ran's memories come before him.

urbandictionary dot com lamplighting

"A word used for situations in media- mostly in comics and television- where the concerns, criticisms and arguments of the audience are answered in the text itself to assuage any disbelief and therefore frustration a reader or viewer might possess. By underscoring points of possible contention, usually humorously, the suspension of disbelief is retained.

Often used to account for implausible developments, ridiculous motivations, bizarre twists and illogical situations, a lampshade can also cover obviously cribbed plot elements by having the author acknowledge through a character that "This is just like..."

A lampshade can be used to explain threads that may have lain dormant, and often prods at the fourth wall by having characters address the audience, or realities outside their own existence.

Also known as Spotlighting...."

seriously? somebody used THAT term for THAT?

sigh.

i prefer the 'sweater dress' version. or the 'girl wearing an extra-long shirt covering the hips and buttocks, but barely reaching the beginnings of the thighs' one. aka 'girl wearing a man's dress shirt'.

the history of lampshading is actually from GASLIGHTING. via the wiki. "Gaslighting is a colloquialism, loosely defined as making someone question their own reality. The expression, which derives from the title of the 1944 film Gaslight, became popular in the mid-2010s.

The term may also be used to describe a person (a "gaslighter") who presents a false narrative to another group or person, thereby leading them to doubt their perceptions and become misled, disoriented or distressed. Oftentimes this is for the gaslighter's own benefit. Normally, this dynamic is possible only when the audience is vulnerable, such as in unequal power relationships, or fearful of the losses associated with challenging the false narrative. Gaslighting is not necessarily malicious or intentional, although in some cases it is."

SEE THE PARALLELS? gas lamps provide light. those lamps had shades made like glass bowls (especially in Victorian England) to keep stray breezes from making the burning gas flames flicker or blow out. now electric lights have fabric/plastic shades to diffuse the bulb's light. plus, folks don't like staring directly at a bare lightbulb.

gaslighting makes a person question reality. lampshading makes a person NOT question a STORY'S reality. or it pokes fun at a story's reality.

;9 heh heh "I've already had my fill..." heh heh heh! ;9

mmhm Shinichi... i agree... the fanservice was stronk with this one! ;9

my favorites? hmmm! heh heh hehheheh! ;9

Ran... the 1st pink one (not the one with the white flower on the top), the dark blue one, hmmm and the white one. i can't decide which i like best. i think the white and the dark blue one are tied for 1st.

Sonoko... the yellow one or the one with the red top and black bottoms that have white dots... i'd flip a coin on those two.

Masumi... definitely the last one she tried. it has the pastel flowers that look painted on a very pale aqua background.
